Ana Navarro Defends Marjorie Taylor Greene Against Trump's Criticism: 'When Trump Attacks, It's Like Opening the Gates of Hell'
In a recent development, The View hosts are rallying behind Georgia State Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has faced intense scrutiny from President Trump. Trump's harsh words and withdrawal of his endorsement have sparked a heated debate, with Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin speaking out in her defense.
Behar expressed outrage at Trump's behavior, calling it 'disgraceful' and 'not nice.' She highlighted the threat of violence, stating, 'People on his team are now sending her threats.' Sunny Hostin echoed similar sentiments, recalling Greene's appearance on The View and their shared experiences of facing online abuse and death threats.
Hostin noted, 'I was shocked when she was here. I thought maybe a pod person was sitting here and Marjorie Taylor Greene, the real one, was in somebody’s basement. I don’t understand the shift.' She suggested that Greene's shift away from right-wing conservatism could be a strategic move to secure future elections, praising her for acknowledging past mistakes.
Ana Navarro, a frequent target of Trump's criticism, added her perspective, emphasizing the intensity of Trump's attacks. She said, 'When Donald Trump attacks you, it’s like the gates of hell open up and every little demon goes through and comes at you.'
However, Navarro denied that Greene is 'afraid' of Trump, but she did express a willingness to give her the benefit of the doubt. She clarified that this doesn't mean excusing her past controversial statements or actions, such as her involvement in QAnon conspiracies or comments about Jewish space lasers. Navarro concluded, 'But it does mean this is a new Marjorie Taylor Greene. I don’t think she’s got anything to win from this.'
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
