The renowned chef, known for his vibrant personality and adventurous palate, found himself in the emergency room after tearing his quad muscle while filming his new Food Network show, 'Flavor Town Food Fight'.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Fieri recounted the incident with a mix of humor and grim determination. He explained that his injury occurred when he slipped down a set of stairs, causing his foot to get caught on the threshold, resulting in a torn quad muscle. The tear was particularly severe, affecting the largest and thickest part of the quad, an area rarely seen injured in his 20 years of experience.
'I looked like I was doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, it was a sight to behold,' Fieri described. 'The doctor said he’s never seen a tear like this in the center of the quad muscle in half. It was a tough one.'
The accident not only required emergency surgery to prevent muscle recession but also forced Fieri to take an extended break from his usual active lifestyle. He will be using crutches and a wheelchair for about eight weeks, impacting his Thanksgiving plans and daily routines. Despite the setback, Fieri's sense of humor shines through, as he jokes about his son's reaction to his injury, highlighting the unexpected nature of the incident.
'My son, Ryder, texted me from school and said, 'Well, I guess all the training you’ve given me and all the cooking I’ve been doing while I was at school, it was going to be my time to shine.' And I said, 'I am so happy you’re asking me about this versus me telling you, you have to do it,'” Fieri shared with the outlet.
Despite the injury, Fieri's positive attitude and resilience are evident, and he is determined to recover and return to his beloved culinary adventures.
