Steve Stringer's journey is an inspiring tale of pursuing your passion and finding success in unexpected places. But who would've thought a scriptwriter could transform into a ceramics guru?
Stringer, a Los Angeles native, now runs a thriving ceramics business from a humble shed in Melrose Hill. It's a far cry from the typical Hollywood scriptwriter's path, but it's a story worth telling.
The shed, a mere 500 sq ft, was an unlikely find. While searching for a studio space, he stumbled upon this hidden gem, tucked away behind a neighbouring property. It was love at first sight, despite its initial shabby appearance. And this is where the magic began.
With a DIY spirit, Stringer transformed the shed into 'Steve's Backhouse', a creative haven. The studio's opening in May marked the beginning of a series of sold-out workshops, including the unique 'Tattoo a Mug' class. Participants get to unleash their creativity by decorating mugs crafted by Stringer himself, a technique he perfected over time.
Previously, Stringer travelled across LA, hosting workshops in various venues. But now, he has a permanent home for his art, and his students couldn't be happier.
But here's where it gets controversial: is this a story of settling for less or of finding true passion? Was the shift from scriptwriting to ceramics a compromise, or did Stringer discover his true calling? The answer might be different for each of us. What do you think?
